The School

Founded in 1842 and originally housed at Roehampton, the school moved to its present 270 hectare site in 1946. A 15-year development plan will ensure that facilities and teaching methods match the needs of students into the 21^st century. An indoor swimming pool and sports centre are amongst the most recent additions, as are a Design and Technology block and a specially dedicated Upper Sixth form centre, whilst a new Music and Arts block is currently under construction.

Academic Profile

Years 7 - 9	All girls take a common course of English, Maths, Religious Education, French, Science, History, Geography, Design & Technology, Information Technology, Art, Latin, Health Education, Drama, Music and Physical Education. Year 7 students take introductory courses in Spanish, German and Latin.
Years 10 - 11	The majority study 9 or 10 GCSE courses - all students take English Language and Literature, Maths, Religious Education, French and Science, plus optional subjects. All students also take short courses in Information Technology, Physical Education and Health Education.
VI^th Form	Students take 3 or 4 "A" level courses from a wide range of options. Some girls replace an "A" level with two "AS" subjects or and an "AS" course to a full range of "A" levels. There is also a General Studies programme leading to a Diploma of Achievement and Physical Education is compulsory for all.

Accommodation

Younger girls are accommodated in dormitories of up to 12 pupils each with smaller partitioned areas for extra privacy, whilst older girls progress to twin and then single study bedrooms. Some rooms have bunk beds.
