The School
St John's College was founded in 1908 by a community of French Brothers of the order of St John Baptist De La Salle (patron saint of teachers). The school now accepts students of all denominations and occupies a site a few hundred metres from the seafront. The centrepiece of the school is the Firme Building which was opened in 1992 and houses a sports hall, theatre, sixth-form common room and information technology suite. Recent developments include the refurbishment of the science laboratories and the creation of a new suite of rooms for GNVQ Advanced Business.

Accommodation
The boarding houses accommodate no more than 25 students each. All children have twin or single study bedrooms, although there are one or two triple rooms. There are shower facilities in each house, plus a kitchen for snacks and comfortable common rooms with TV.
