The School
The International College was opened in 1977 under the aegis of Sherborne School to prepare children from overseas for entry to good independent senior schools in Britain. Occupying a site near the town centre, the Study Centre boasts purpose-built facilities in buildings of local stone designed to blend in with the traditional architecture of the area. Pupils are able to use the excellent indoor and outdoor sports facilities of Sherborne School and Sherborne School for Girls, including a 25m indoor swimming pool.
Academic Profile
Pupils usually spend one or two years at Sherborne International Study Centre, or occasionally, one term. Most classes have at least 12 English lessons per week, but all pupils also study Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Most pupils also take additional courses in Geography, History, Art etc.
The College is an official centre for the GCSE examinations and for the English examinations of the University of Cambridge. Younger pupils usually take the Common Entrance Examination for entry to independent schools at the age of 13.
