The School

Sevenaokes School is one of the three oldest lay foundations in England.   Founded in 1432 by Sir William Sevenoke ( Mayor of London and friend of Henry 5).  Sevenoaks School set in 100 acres in the heart of Southeast England. Half an hour from Central London, school is situated on the edge of Sevenoaks, overlooking the 15th century deer park of the Knole Estate. All Weather Pitch, Athletics track, CDT Centre, Conference facilities, Sixth Form Centre, Sports Hall, Swimming Pool (covered), Swimming Pool (open air), Theatre.

Academic Profile

Key Stage 3
Years 7, 8 and 9

Core subjects: English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology. Students also have a grounding in Latin along with other basic subjects (History, Geography, Physical Education etc.)

Key Stage 4
Years 10 and 11

The majority of GCSE courses begin, is followed by 2 years when students pursue a more limited range of subjects leading to the exams. Subjects available to GCSE: Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry, Classics, Design & Technology, Drama & Theatre Arts, English, French, Geography, German, History, Information & Communication Technology, Maths, Music, Physics, Russian.

16+ IB, Years 12 and 13

IB offers a broad six subject curriculum, with emphasis on the acquisition of a balanced portfolio of higher level academic skills.

At Sevenoaks all students take English A1, second modern language: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Russian and Spanish, as well as Latin and Classical Greek are offered.  History, Geography, Economics, Philosophy, Business and Management (HL only), Information Technology in a Global Society (SL only), Psychology (SL only). Classical Civilisations (SL), World Religions (SL),  Experimental Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Design Technology,  Mathematics HL, Mathematics (SL), Mathematical Studies (SL),   The Arts and Electives: Visual Arts, Music, Theatre Arts

Special Features

One of the few schools which admits six form entrants to study the International Baccalaureate only.
Examination results are consistently excellent.

20% have own study bedrooms, 70% share, 5% are in dormitories of 6+. Single sex houses of approximately 50; separate smaller house for 11-12 years olds (co-ed).
