The School
Queen Ethelburga's College was founded in 1912 and the school campus is situated in 40 hectares of grounds of the Thorpe Underwood Hall estate, formerly a retreat for the monks of the monastery of Fountains Abbey. The school's facilities are superb, comprising excellent teaching rooms with well equipped science, computer and home economics departments, boarding houses of a very high standard, an equestrian centre, indoor swimming pool with sauna and solarium, tennis courts, sports pitches, gymnasium and fitness centre.
