The School

Kelly College was founded in 1877 by Admiral Kelly as "a boarding school for sons of naval officers and other gentlemen", and it retains close links with the navy in Dartmouth and Devonport. The College has beautifully landscaped grounds encompassing fine playing fields and sports facilities and occupies a site of some 8 hectares including its own stretch of the River Tavy. Recent development includes new purpose-built centres for Modern Languages, Art & Deign and Information Technology.

Academic Profile

Years 7 - 9	A full range of subjects including Design and Technology and Information Technology. The Sciences are taught separately in Year 9, and pupils can take German in addition to French and even Latin.
Years 10 - 11	Core subjects: English Language and Literature, Maths, Science, a foreign language, plus four others from a selection available. Pupils take 8 - 12 GCSE subjects.
VI^th Form	A wide range of "A" level subjects plus a programme of weekly lectures by outside speakers. All pupils are also prepared for "A" or AS level General Studies.

A large number of Outward Bound activities (trekking, climbing, orienteering)
The traditional cricket pavilion has been converted into a coffee-house, a popular meeting place for students at weekends and in their free time.

Accommodation

Five boarding houses each with their own leisure facilities, kitchen and small snack shop. Younger students are accommodated in rooms of 6 - 8 (there are separate study rooms) whilst older students are in twin or single study bedrooms.
