The School

Set in over 80 hectares of beautiful parkland on a hill outside Bath, Kingswood School enjoys stunning panoramic views over the city. The school was founded in 1748 by John Wesley, the founder of Methodism and the school today welcomes students "from every religion and none". The campus is extensive and combines traditional and modern buildings - in recent years investment has been made in ICT resulting in 3 main computer areas; there is a state-of-the-art recording studio in the Music department; a 3-storey Design Technology Centre boasts a design room, computer facilities and large workshops and the school library houses over 35,000 volumes as well as offering access to other resources through the Internet.

Academic Profile

Years 7 & 8 15 subjects are studied including English, Maths, Science etc., as per the national Curriculum
Year 9 Studies continue as in years 7 and 8 with the addition of 3 guided options: German or Home Economics or EFL or Special Needs; Latin or Practical Roundabout (choice of 3 subjects from Art, Drama, Music, Design studied for one term each); Art or Music or Drama or Design Technology.
Years 10 & 11 Core GCSE subjects: English, English Literature, Maths, French or German and Double Award Science plus 3 other subjects chosen from Art, Design Technology, Drama, Geography, German, History, Home Economics, Latin, Music, Physical Education
VIth Form Up to 5 A/S courses are studied in Lower VIth, and usually 3 subjects continued into the Upper VIth. Subjects available: Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry, Design Technology, Drama & theatre Arts, Economics & Business Studies, English Literature, French, General Studies, Geography, German, History, Information Technology, Latin, Maths & Further Maths, Music, Politics, Physics, Religious Studies, Sport & Physical Education.
