The College
Cambridge Arts & Sciences was founded in 1985 predominantly for students wishing to retake examinations. So successful were such students in obtaining good exam grades, that the college increasingly attracted students preparing for examinations for the first time. Currently the majority of students are in the sixth form studying for "A" levels, although some students also take GCSE examinations. The Cambridge School of Art & Design, an autonomous part of the college, offers a one year foundation programme for those who have completed their secondary education and wish to enter university or schools of art or film. The 2 colleges occupy a self-contained campus of 5 buildings in the very centre of Cambridge, and there is a choice of libraries, a large common room and snack bar.
