The College

Abbey Tutorial College was opened in 1994 and is housed in modernised premises convenient to the city centre. The college has airy classrooms and a couple of small but well-equipped laboratories and class sizes are never larger than 7.

Intensive Retake Courses September-January or January-June
10 hours group tuition per subject per week
Entry requirements: minimum Grade D at "A" level

One Year Courses September - June
8 hours group tuition per subject per week
Designed for students with some previous experience of "A" level:
  • students with gaps in their existing subject knowledge wishing to improve by 4 or more grades
  • students joining in the second year of "A" level studies to benefit from a more intensive approach
  • students studying a new "A" level from scratch with non-Science "A" levels or "A" level equivalents from other countries
Mathematics for Science September- January or January - June
1 hour group tuition per week
Develops the skills of students studying the Sciences who have not studied Maths since GCSE

Accommodation

In single study-bedrooms in private homes, with students housed in pairs or small groups of 5 - 7. Breakfast and evening meal are provided. There is also one semi self-catering house where the host family will take up to 6 students but allow them to lead independent lives catering for themselves. All accommodation is within walking distance or an easy cycle ride of the college. Accommodation charges are not included in school fees.
