Intense Educational Services

REGISTRATION FEE

Intense Educational Ltd charges a one-off fee which covers the creation of a personal file for each child necessary to process the application for guardianship services. This fee must be paid with initial application so that we can begin the booking process and is not refundable under any circumstances.

GUARDIANSHIP

During a child's stay at a British/Irish school Intense Educational undertakes to provide numerous services essential for the child's well-being whilst in a foreign country. Such services, carried out with an emphasis on personal attention, are handled by our dedicated staff. They ensure that any problem, large or small, that a child may encounter is swiftly resolved. We have detailed below a comprehensive but not exhaustive list of services provided.

Guardianship services

• Search and allocation of guardian
• Arranging legal requirements / documents for guardianship
• Arranging financial documents
• Assisting in the application for and extension of visas
• Provision of all transport within the UK/Ireland including any transfers required between schools and to and from guardian families
• Provision of travel and accommodation arrangements for visiting parents
• Supervision of the child's financial affairs with monthly financial report
• Constant liaison with schools
• Constant liaison with guardian families
• Arranging visits to doctors and / or dentists when necessary
• Ordering and purchasing of school uniform and bedding
• Organisation of excursions during holidays
• Booking of air tickets and reconfirmation of flights for the child to and from the UK/Ireland
• Visits to schools during the term
• Visits on parents' days
• Emergency visits to schools

STAYS WITH GUARDIANS

Apart form other legal duties, the guardian family's main obligation is to provide the child with a home during exeat weekends, half term breaks, and, if required, during school holidays. The guardian will also accommodate the child:

• If the child arrives in the UK/Ireland before the start of a school term
• If the child leaves the UK/Ireland after the end of a school term
• If a child changes school and needs somewhere to stay in between
• If a child is ill and requires care away from school
• If a child is suspended or expelled from school

The daily charge for accommodation is paid directly and in total to the guardian family and includes:

• The child's own room (unless the child has requested or agreed to share with another child under the family's guardianship)
• Use of all the home's facilities
• Three full meals per day plus additional snacks and drinks
• Laundry
• Accompanying the child on shopping trips and on cultural and social outings
• Accompanying the child on visits to the doctor, dentist and optician

Guardian families are, in general, working people and cannot always be expected to provide 24 hour supervision of the child. If parents insist on 24 hour supervision, a child minder can be arranged at extra cost.

TRANSFERS FROM SCHOOL TO GUARDIANS

A child will normally require 6 transfers per term between school and guardian family:

• One transfer from school to family plus one transfer from family to school each exeat weekend (2 per term) = 4 transfers
• One transfer from school to family at the start of the half term break plus one transfer from family to school at the end of the half term break = 2 transfers

The price of the transfers depends on the school and distance from the school to the guardian family and the exact amount will appear on the invoice once the school has been chosen and the number of transfers agreed. The price range on the Intense Educational Ltd price list covers a one-way transfer and the exact cost of each transfer will be multiplied by the total number of transfers required. At the discretion of Intense Educational Ltd a child may be transferred by minibus or taxi with other pupils, by guardian family car (alone or with other pupils) or individually by taxi. In cases where siblings or close friends are attending the same school, are allocated the same guardian family and travel between school and guardian family together, the cost of the transfer will be divided between the children. If, however, shared transfers have been invoiced for and the children subsequently travel separately, the full cost of the transfer will be applied for each child and the appropriate costs must be covered by the parents or from the child's Current Expenses Fund held by Intense Educational Ltd. Parents must advise Intense Educational Ltd at the time of booking if their child will be sharing transfers with another child and all parties must be in agreement before invoices are issued.

Should parents wish to cancel any transfers ordered and invoiced for, the appropriate amount will be refunded. Should parents wish to order any transfers in addition to those already ordered and invoiced for, the appropriate costs must be covered by the parents or from the child's Current Expenses Fund held by Intense Educational Ltd.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

A child will normally require 2 airport transfers per term, on arrival at the beginning of the term and departure at the end of the term or 4 airport transfers if parents require their child to return home or visit another country over the half term break. The cost of each transfer depends on the distance of the school from the airport and the total cost of all transfers required will appear on the invoice once the school has been chosen and the number of transfers agreed. At the discretion of Intense Educational Ltd a child may be transferred by minibus or taxi with other pupils or individually by taxi.

In cases where siblings or close friends are attending the same school and travelling together, the cost of the transfer will be divided between children. If, however, shared transfers have been invoiced for and the children subsequently travel separately, the full cost of the transfer will be applied for each child and the appropriate costs must be covered by the parents or from the child's Current Expenses Fund held by Intense Educational Ltd. Any transfers ordered and paid for, but subsequently not used by the child, will be refunded. Please see our separate information on arrival and departure procedures.

BANK CHARGES FOR RECEIPT OF FUNDS

All British and Irish banks charge for allocation of funds to accounts. If parents want the exact total of the invoice to be received by Intense Educational Ltd, they should add £10.00 to cover bank charges which are automatically deducted from amounts received. If this charge is not covered by the parents, the funds received by Intense Educational Ltd for their child will be £10.00 less and will be deducted from the child's Current Expenses Fund. Alternatively when making a bank transfer, parents may choose to authorise the bank to deduct all bank charges from their account at the time of the transfer.
