Booking Conditions of
School Placement

APPLICATION

In order to ensure a place at the school of your choice you should apply to Intense Educational Ltd as early as possible preferably in the March or April of the previous academic year. Some of the more prestigious schools require applications at least one academic year in advance.

If you wish Intense Educational Ltd to handle your application to a British or Irish school you should first fill out the Intense Educational Ltd application form and supplementary information forms provided in order that we have:

All forms must be sent, together with a copy of the child's latest school report (with English translation), the Intense Educational Ltd registration fee of £100.00 plus the school's registration fee, direct to our office in England or to the local Intense Educational Ltd representative in your country. Both registration fees are not refundable.

We can only place children in the schools specially selected by Intense Educational Ltd.

Intense Educational Ltd will prepare all necessary paperwork to apply to the school on the parents' behalf and pass on to the school all information supplied by the parents. We will inform you of the school's decision regarding your child's application no later than 72 hours after we receive your application form and registration fee.

The decision of most of the schools will depend on the availability of places and on the information supplied by Intense Educational Ltd. However a few schools require applicants to pass an entry test. In such cases Intense Educational Ltd will send the test directly to you or to the local Intense Educational Ltd representative in your country and the timing of the school's decision will then depend on:

If a child is already studying in the UK/Ireland and applying for a place for the final 1 or 2 years of his/her study, some schools will offer a place dependent on the results of the child's secondary education examinations. In such cases the school will only take the final decision regarding the child's acceptance at the end of August, once the results of the secondary education examinations have been published. However the preliminary application for such places must still be made as early as possible.

ACCEPTANCE

Once a child has been accepted by the school Intense Educational Ltd will forward to the parents the school's acceptance form, the contract between the school and the parent if the school uses one and an official letter of invitation to the UK/Ireland from the school. To confirm their acceptance of any place offered, parents must sign the school's acceptance form and contract and return them to Intense Educational Ltd within 7 days of receipt and in any case not later than 14 days before the start of the school term.

Once the acceptance documents have been signed parents become fully liable for all obligations laid out in the above documents, especially with regard to any cancellation charges.

PAYMENT

Along with the school's acceptance form and school contract Intense Educational Ltd will issue an invoice for school fees and all necessary extras. To ensure that parents comply with school's cancellation rules, a deposit equal to one term's fees is required by the UK schools such deposit is automatically included in the invoice. The deposit is refundable at the end of the child's studies at school, if not used to cover cancellation fees. Irish schools demand the year's fees paid in adavance. In addition all schools charge a further deposit to cover current expenses incurred by the child during his/her stay at school. This deposit is also refundable at the end of the child's study at school provided that all expenses incurred by the child have been paid to the school in full.

Parents must make payment in accordance with the Intense Educational Ltd invoice within 7 days of receipt and in any case not later than 14 days before the start of the school term. All payments must be made in any hard currency to Intense Educational Ltd by cheque to "Intense Educational Ltd" or by bank transfer to:

The schools have the right to vary their annual fees. In such cases schools will give one full term's notice in writing of any variations.

CANCELLATION

No cancellation fees are payable except for the Intense Educational Ltd registration fee and school registration fee if:

If parents cancel after the school acceptance form and contract have been signed but before the start of the child's studies, they must, depending on the school's cancellation policy, pay either one term's fees or deposit specified by the school.

If parents cancel during the first term of study, and give notice before half term, only the first term's fees are payable.

If parents cancel during the first term of study and give notice after half term, the school will keep the deposit equal to one term's fees or retain one term's fees if the payment is done for the whole year in advance.

From the second term onwards, parents must give one full term's notice of cancellation. Otherwise the school will keep the deposit equal to one term's fees.

If a child is expelled after the start of a school term there will be no refund of fees already paid for that term. However any deposits or advanced payments held by the school will be refunded less any expenses incurred at the school by the child.

If a child becomes seriously ill after the start of a school term and has to abandon his/her studies, there will be no refund of fees already paid for that term. However any deposits advanced payments held by the school will be refunded less any expenses incurred at the school by the child.

If a child is absent from school for any reason not covered above, there will be no reduction in fees.

Intense Educational Ltd strongly advises parents to take out insurance to cover them for any cancellation charges or loss of fees due to a child's expulsion or prolonged illness.

REFUNDS

If parents cancel before the child begins his/her studies and there is a refund due from the school, this will be paid through Intense Educational Ltd not later than 14 days after Intense Educational Ltd receives written notification of the cancellation.

If parents cancel after the child has begun his/her studies, any refund due from the school will be paid through Intense Educational Ltd not later than 14 days after the end of the child's final term at the school.

Intense Educational Ltd assists parents in receiving any refund due from the school and forwarding such refund to the parents. However Intense Educational Ltd bears no responsibility for the school's decision regarding any refund due.

PARENTS' LIABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Intense Educational Ltd and its overseas representatives cannot be held responsible for any of the following risks:

Serious illness of a child: all routine health matters are dealt with by the schools, under the supervision of the resident nurse (matron). Any more serious complaints are referred to a general practitioner and any necessary treatment given under the British National Health Service. In Ireland such treatment is covered by the medical insurance which is obligatory. It is, however, the parents' responsibility to ensure that their child is in a fit medical state to study abroad, and to give full and accurate information as required by Intense Educational Ltd regarding the child's medical background. Intense Educational Ltd does not accept any liability for any illness contracted whilst a child is studying in the UK/Ireland. We recommend that parents take out adequate insurance against Personal Accident. Further private health insurance can also be taken out - Intense Educational Ltd will be happy to supply information about companies offering comprehensive cover.

Loss or damage of property: it is the parent's responsibility to provide adequate insurance cover for their child's belongings whilst they are in the UK/Ireland. Most schools offer a Personal Effects scheme and Intense Educational Ltd advises that parents take out adequate insurance. If the school does not offer this type of insurance, Intense Educational Ltd will be pleased to provide information about suitable insurance companies and arrange cover according to the parents' instructions and on their behalf.

School closure: Intense Educational Ltd in no way assumes responsibility for the performance or non-performance of any school or college of its obligations to its pupils, neither is Intense Educational Ltd responsible for any financial or other losses incurred in the case of schools or colleges closing due to bankruptcy or for any other reason. It is not possible to take out insurance to protect against such events (which are extremely rare), so parents should think carefully before paying more than one term's fees in advance to any school or college.

It is the parents' responsibility to pay to Intense Educational Ltd, in addition to all other charges for the first term in the UK, a deposit of one term's school fees. This is a requirement by the school in order to ensure that should parents fail to give one term's notice of withdrawing their child, one term's fees will be paid to the school in lieu of notice. Some schools require the deposit to be paid to them along with the first term's fees, otherwise Intense Educational Ltd will hold this deposit. The deposit can normally be used as part or full payment of school fees for the final term of the child's studies unless the school states otherwise. In this case the deposit will be refunded to the parents when the child leaves the school, less any charges still outstanding to the school at that time. If the term's deposit is held by Intense Educational Ltd, this money will be refunded to the parents in the case of schools or colleges closing due to bankruptcy or for any other reason. However if the term's deposit is paid to the school, under the school's terms and conditions, Intense Educational Ltd is not responsible for the loss of this deposit in the case of schools or colleges closing due to bankruptcy or for any other reason.
